The Music Spot, established August 2008

The Music Spot is committed to bringing the highest quality music education to all its students. Whether 2 or 92, The Music Spot has a program that will fit your style. We take pride in providing a well rounded music education with 2 studio wide group lessons per year and a spring recital. With many themed weeks throughout the year, we make learning music FUN! We are happy to introduce Art Lessons as well as Yoga, Drum Circles, Mindfulness & Holistic Events.  Music is everything, and everything is Music!

Diane McGuire, Studio Director

Diane has been teaching for 26 years and attended the University of Windsor for Music & Business. While in Windsor, Diane was an active band member in Matrix, Music Express & The Gemini Wind Ensemble. Diane has always been involved in her community participating, organizing and promoting local events & activities. Previous to The Music Spot, Diane was the Education Specialist at Belle Air Music in Windsor and London. Her passion for education has been utilized by the Strathroy District Arts Council, The Strathroy Youth Gardeners, The Air Cadets, Middlesex Community Living, and most recently directing The Strathroy Caradoc Optimist Youth Band. Diane is also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist providing consultations in Nutrition, Reiki, Colour, Sound and Crystal Therapy.

Rochelle Baughman

Piano, Violin, Early Childhood Educator

Rochelle is a graduate of Brock University with a Bachelor of Music in Piano and Organ Performance. She has her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory Piano, and Grade 8 Royal Conservatory violin. She has been teaching for 15 years. She has had many students that have successfully achieved their RCM Grade 10 Performance Level. She teaches the bulk of our young students utilizing Music for Little Mozart curriculum. She is an active accompanist and is involved in all The Music Spot’s extra events.

Colin Gillard

Guitar & Ukulele

Colin Gillard is a natural musician with a flare for fun. His experience with talent shows, musicals, competitions, churches, coffee houses, community events, weddings, and funerals brings a wide range of knowledge to any musicians performance venue. He has performed music for and with musicians such as Paul Baloche and Melissa O'Neil. Colin's talent in the theatrical arts put him on cast at the Huron Country Playhouse. His ability to play solos, finger pick or chord, lead guitar or rhythm guitar electric or acoustic and his tailor made teaching style will add a variety of learning for students that are progressing with their musical skills.  

Kathy Gillard

Piano, Band, Ukulele, Choir

Kathy has been scoring music, performing, & accompanying soloists from a very early age.  As an active member in the church community she has conducted several church choirs, been a church music director for over 15 years. After founding ‘Caradoc Community Choir’ in 2000, she took her vocalists to new heights winning awards in competitions, being invited to perform for Canada Games London.  This award winning director has been teaching piano for over 20 years, & coached other vocalists who have found great success touring as far as Sweden! She is also confident in guiding enthusiasts through a variety of other instruments including but not limited to clarinet, flute, ukulele, violin, bass, and saxophone. 

Allison Pompili

Resident Artist

Allison has had a love of art her entire existence!

She provides opportunity to create!  Sketching, water colours, acrylic and more! Looking forward to offering Mindful Art & many other art modalities!



Doug Gillard

Drums and Percussion

Doug Gillard has been a band member for over 20 years proficiently and expressively drumming unique, and challenging patterns for all genres of music. Doug has brought the joy and love of music to many including church congregations, youth groups, private parties, and public events. As the MC and co-ordinator of the Youth talent search for Del-Ko-Brydge Canada day, he keeps up with the styles of the times and works with all ages to pass on the knowledge and enhance their musical skills. Doug also has experience in the recording studio, and working with sound systems. Doug is a dynamic drummer that is also a lead vocalist...how often do you see that?

Kylie Weaver

Ukulele

Kylie has been involved in music since she was 3 years old. She continues to study piano, voice and ukulele. She has been an active member of the Strathroy- Caradoc Youth Band since it began in 2013. She enjoys leading the ukulele drop in classes for ages 6-10 and is excited to begin teaching private lessons in September.

Emily Vanderydt

Beginner Piano

Emily has been a Piano student at the Music Spot for nearly 12 years playing both Piano since she was 3 and Violin since she was 7. She has been an apprentice under Miss Rochelle and Miss Diane for nearly a year and is excited to begin teaching private lessons. Emily is very involved in the music community around town. At her high school, Emily is an active member of her school’s band, as well as being the accompanying pianist for the choir. Emily has completed her Grade 9 Royal Conservatory Piano and is currently working on her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory Piano and her Grade 9 Music History.
